What is the Life in the UK Test?
The Life in the UK test is a compulsory requirement for anyone applying for British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in the United Kingdom. Administered by the Home Office, the computer-based assessment covers British history, traditions, government, laws, and everyday life.
The exam consists of 24 multiple-choice questions drawn from the official study guide, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents. You have 45 minutes to complete it, and you need to answer at least 18 questions correctly (a 75% pass mark) to pass. There is no negative marking, so you should answer every question.
Around 50,000 people fail each year, often because they relied on outdated apps or incomplete study materials. Pass Britain was built to change that. Every question in our bank is verified against the current official handbook, and our AI tutor Bertie explains the reasoning behind each answer in plain English, so you genuinely understand the material, not just memorise it.
Whether you are preparing months in advance or cramming the week before your booking, Pass Britain adapts to your schedule with spaced repetition, realistic mock exams, and a readiness score that tells you exactly when you are ready to sit the real assessment.
