How the official exam works
The Life in the UK Test is a computer-based exam administered by the Home Office. It's a mandatory requirement for anyone applying for British citizenship or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). The assessment consists of 24 multiple-choice questions drawn from the official handbook, Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents.
You have 45 minutes to complete it, and you need to answer at least 18 questions correctly (a 75% pass mark) to pass. There is no negative marking, so always answer every question even if you have to guess.
The questions above are drawn from the same topic areas as the real exam: government, history, culture, society, and everyday life.
