Preparing for test day in Edinburgh
The Life in the UK Test is a computer-based exam with 24 multiple-choice questions and a 45-minute time limit. You need to answer at least 18 correctly (75%) to pass.
Arrive at the PSI Edinburgh centre at least 15 minutes before your appointment. Bring valid photo ID - your biometric residence permit, passport, or accepted travel document. No phones, bags, or study materials are allowed in the test room.
You will receive your result on the same day. If you pass, a pass notification letter will be sent to you. If you do not pass, you can rebook straight away - the new test date just needs to be at least 3 days ahead.
