Preparing for test day in Sunderland
The Life in the UK Test is a computer-based exam with 24 multiple-choice questions and a 45-minute time limit. You need to answer at least 18 correctly (75%) to pass.
Arrive at the PSI Sunderland centre at least 15 minutes before your appointment. Bring valid photo ID - your biometric residence permit, passport, or accepted travel document. No phones, bags, or study materials are allowed in the test room.
After you finish, you should receive an email with your result and unique reference number (URN) within about 10 minutes. The result is also available in your Life in the UK Test account. Paper result letters apply only to tests taken before 17 December 2019. If you do not pass, you can rebook - the new test date just needs to be at least 3 days ahead.
